Today, as part of our series on former Olympic medalists and their lives after the games, we talk with swimmer Jenny Thompson. She competed in four Olympics — Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney and Athens.

With 12 medals, eight of them gold, she’s Olympic women’s swimming’s most decorated athlete ever. She’s now a practicing anesthesiologist in Portland, Maine, and the mother of two.

Here & Now‘s Eric Westervelt talks with Thompson about her career.

More from Here & Now‘s series on life after the Olympics.
