Filmmakers Chris Hegedus and D.A. Pennebaker discuss their new documentary “Unlocking the Cage,” along with Steven Wise, an animal rights lawyer who’s the subject of the film. Wise leads The Nonhuman Rights Project, which seeks to provide animals with basic rights and legal protections. The film follows Wise as he argues on behalf of four captive chimps in New York State.
