New York City has got a major man deficit - there are 100,000 fewer college-educated men than there are women.
Jon Birger, contributor to Fortune magazine and former senior writer at Fortune and Money and the author of Date-onomics: How Dating Became a Lopsided Numbers Game (Workman Publishing Company, 2015), says one inevitable outcome (that's worth embracing) is more "mixed-collar" marriages in the near future.

Oversupply of men = dating scene favors romance/courtship. Scarcity of men in NYC = fuels hookup culture. @jonbirger1— Brian Lehrer Show (@BrianLehrer) September 9, 2015
hey @BrianLehrer - I found a husband in NYC by going out alone! we met at a N.E.R.D. concert. being solo forces you to socialize.— Piper (@PiperBKNY) September 9, 2015
