Ukrainian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin is a principal dancer with Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre and Director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Long regarded as a ballet prodigy, at age 25 he walked away from dance, driven to the brink of self-destruction by stardom. The documentary “Dancer,” directed by Steven Cantor, tells the story of Sergei’s life, family and passion for dance.

"Dancer" opens on Friday, September 16th at the IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue).
