A Tribute to Jerome Kern

Airs Monday 12PM to 4PM ET on The Jonathan Channel

Monday, January 27, 2014

On Monday, The Jonathan Channel celebrates the 129th birthday of the father of American Popular Song - Jerome Kern. The hero of Irving Berlin and George Gershwin (plus countless others), Kern's innovative compositions changed the face of American music forever with the invention of The Great American Songbook.

A career that spanned decades, Kern contributed to Broadway shows (Showboat, Music in the Air) and Hollywood musicals (Cover Girl, Swing Time). Today, we turn our focus to the work of this legendary composer.
