The Purpose of the Death Penalty, and 13 Reasons to Abandon It

The Leonard Lopate Show | Apr 9, 2015

In 13 Ways of Looking at the Death Penalty, Mario Marazziti argues against the death penalty in this country, and urges the United States to conform with the rest of the industrialized world on this standard. A longtime spokesman for the Community of Sant’Egidio, a Rome-based progressive Catholic NGO, Marazziti co-founded the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty in 2002. In 2012, Marazziti was elected to the lower house of Italian parliament, where he pursues a broad human-rights based portfolio.
