The 10 Towns that Transformed America

The Takeaway | Apr 18, 2016

Over the last several weeks, we've teamed up with WTTW-Chiacgo and PBS for their three-part series, "10 That Changed America." The project explores the architecture, design, and urban planning that revolutionized American communities.

We've examined some of the 10 homes that changed America, like Washington, D.C.'s Langston Terrace Dwellings, and a few of the 10 parks featured in the series, like Seattle's Freeway and Gas Works Parks.

Tonight, the final episode in the "10 That Changed America" series will air with a focus on the 10 towns that changed America. Geoffrey Baer, host and senior editor of the series, looks at places like Levittown, Long Island — an early model for post-war suburbs — to the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, an experimental neighborhood that is moving away from reliance on automobiles.

Check out the full list of the 10 homes that changed America below, and tune in tonight to learn more.
