The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 11, 2016

In 1990, when Cambridge scientists set out on an expedition in Ethiopia, they recovered the wing of an unknown species of bird. Over 20 years later, their mysterious discovery led  Vernon R.L. Head, Chairman of BirdLife South Africa, to join a new expedition on their search for the Nechisar Nightjar. He tells the story of their quest in The Rarest Bird in the World: The Search for the Nechisar Nightjar.
