Wonderful music! This station is a godsend! There is nothing quite like it. BUT!.... Please have a scroll or something that shows information on the artist, the song. the date, the lyricist, the composer. It would make this station even more educational. Thank you!

The Jonathan Channel is a general delight. Even better than the Red Sox winning the World Series. It comes at just the right time, as my 20-something kinds are developing an appreciation for The American Songbook. Where else would they hear it?

Losing the XM program was like having a death in the family. What a wonderful replacement. Thank you Jonathan for sharing your knowledge and impeccable good taste in music.

Thank you.

Having access to this music on demand is just great! I was saddened to hear of your retirement from XM because the American Songbook is not available elsewhere. At the time I wrote a note and suggested that you do what "Car Talk" does, just play tapes of your old shows. This is much better. When will internet radio be available in the car? Thanks again.

I am beyond happy about this feed. I listened to Mr. Schartz on WQEW and then would go on WNYC on my laptop but I would only listen to his show on WNYC on Saturdays. I am so thrilled that i can now listen to him on a daily basis and I am not limited to once a week.. He is a treasure and I learn so much from his immense knowledge. Thank you so much for the Jonathan Channel.

I love the concept and hope you will have a long and prosperous life on this channel.Of course I adore Sinatra and jazz.....Basie, Ellington et.al. Lots of Nelson Riddle surrounding us all. It's WNEW 2013....Go get 'em......

As someone else said here, this is the best since since WNEW. How about the WNEW of Martin Block and the Make Believe Ballroom in the 1940s, when I was a teenager? You're that much of a grabber. But of course in a different way. Because we're all now in a different way.

On Sunday with Schwartz, the two versions of Body & Soul by Blue Eyes (and Hackett on the old one!) unlaced me like April in Paris you say unlaced Yip Harburg.

I've been on for some hours with you since the Friday debut. Bravo !!

Please play Dave Frishberg's "Do You Miss New York?" I do, but now less, with you here.

Congratulations on the new channel, I cannot tell you how quiet the hours from 12-3 were, so glad to have you and this music back in that daily time slot (as well as forever). Regards to Buddy too...

I can't overstate how thrilled, and how grateful, I am that the the Jonathan Schwartz program is now available at days/times other than the limited weekend hours it was previously available. Now that the online channel exists, I intend to listen to it very, very often. These songs lift my spirit tremendously and enrich my life immeasurably. Such beauty, creativity, and talent shine through - these songs are a national treasure and they need to be appreciated.

Now we just have to spread the WORD!! You're everywhere - always. Been playing that "waiting game" for you forever it seems.

Finally one dream came true. Now there's one thing DECENT and WONDERFUL amidst all that current crap.

Goodness! (as you said . . .)

You JUST played a beautiful song that I would love to look up (and sing) - one lyric I caught was something like "in a moment eyes collide." Information, please!!!

Many thanks,

This is the greatest news I've heard in a while. Long live Jonathan and the great American songbook..

I'm here mostly because of David Remnick's piece in the Talk of the Town in the current New Yorker.

You'll play many tracks that the conventional 24/7 jazz stations play, plus much of what they also do. All these lyrics, especially the verses, that one never hears anymore! I've bookmarked you on my computer.

For anyone who, like Jonathan, is having problems listening to the stream, you have lots of options. It's available on tunein.com (you can search for "Jonathan"), the WNYC iOS app, iHeart Radio, or just by entering the actual URL in your Internet browser (this .mp3 version should work with any browser on a PC or a Mac: http://www.wnyc.org/stream/jonathan-channel/mp3.pls). Hope this helps the technically frustrated. I've set it up to play via Radium, which sits in my menu bar on a Mac. The Radium developers have also said they'll be adding it to their iOS app very soon.
This is the best thing to happen to radio since WNEW and, of course, Jonathan's own programs on many stations. Thanks to the Internet we music lovers get a respite from all that 24-hour "hate" talk out there. Long live WNYC and the great American Songbook!

What a great idea to be able to listen to this music anytime, or all the time. But I hope there will be some talk along with the songs.

I had no idea this channel existed before 12:15 today.
I was waiting for the "special" stream to activate and decided to go to the WNYC website and see if the stream was down.
What a surprise to find that a new channel was born to honor the Great American Songbook and Jonathan Schwartz..
