Students Set Sail in Handmade Boats

A youth program that uses sailing to teach teenagers about math, science and character celebrated the beautiful weather this past weekend by launching nine-foot wooden boats they built over the winter.

The annual event, run by Hudson River Community Sailing, at Pier 66 in Manhattan brought kids from eight New York City high schools to celebrate their boats, and the long-awaited spring.
