The Street Ants of Camden, New Jersey

The New Yorker Radio Hour | Sep 9, 2016

Ants live complex lives: they are scavengers, predators, and ranchers that communicate in ways humans are only now beginning to understand. Amy Savage, the biologist who collected the American Museum of Natural History’s first sample of Manhattan street ants, is currently conducting a national study about the various feeding habits of ants in different cities. She speaks with New Yorker contributor Alex Carp about why urban ants act like urban people.
