From Poverty In Haiti To Preparing The Leaders Of Tomorrow

Jim St. Germain, co-founder of Preparing Leaders of Tomorrow (PLOT), a nonprofit organization that provides mentoring to at-risk youth; and a board member with the National Juvenile Defender Center, joins us to discuss his memoir A Stone of Hope. Born into poverty in Haiti, St. Germain immigrated to Crown Heights with his family as a child and became involved with gangs and drug dealing as a teenager. He tells the story of how he turned his life around after entering a rehabilitation center known as “Boys Town.” He now works as a residential care advocate for the City of New York.

Jim St. Germain will discuss "A Stone of Hope" on July 13 at Congregation Beth Elohim (274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn).  Admission is free, doors open at 7:00 p.m. The program begins at 7:30 p.m.
