What Happens When Parents Get Deported

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jul 24, 2017

Lizzie Presser, a contributing writer to California Sunday Magazine, discusses her recent story, “Losing Gloria”, which was reported in partnership with The Nation Institute. Roughly half a million U.S.-born children lost a parent to detention and deportation between 2009 and 2013. Presser's story looks at what happens to those children once their parents are gone. We'll also hear from Angel Marin, whose family was the subject of the piece. He'll discuss the deportation of his mother Gloria, and his experiences in the foster care system.

This segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show" is guest hosted by Manoush Zomorodi.
