Every Week NPR Music writer and editor Stephen Thompson joins Here & Now’s Robin Young with a new song. This week it’s a stand-out on Warpaint’s new self-titled album. The song is called “Love Is to Die.” Thompson says the band is ready to shine.

“There’s a lot of buzz around Warpaint. It’s a favorite on blogs, it’s on a label that gets a lot of traction, the band has a great look and is generally perceived to be on the rise. But at the same time, all that coolness never comes at the expense of craftsmanship and hard work. Everything is in the right place in Warpaint’s music. The production is impeccable and thought out, with lots of little whirs and whispers in the mix. It’s a band that’s ready to be heard, and I think you’ll hear it a lot in 2014.”
