In 1980 my friend and I had a blast with Mr. Jay's Cards as Weapons book. At the age of 11, we knew it was a bit of a joke, but we spent hours on our card throwing skills and got pretty good at it. We were martial arts students and learning magic (numerous awe-inspiring visits to Lou Tannen's), so it was the perfect mix.

Is Mr. Jay a fan of the "Spanish school" of magicians, specifically the great Juan Tamariz (a master of effects involving a memorized deck)?
