The deteriorating 82-year-old Pulaski Skyway in New Jersey closed on Saturday for two years of repair work. More than 40,000 commuters will be affected everyday by the closure. Transportation officials are urging commuters to carpool or take public transit instead of driving.

Jersey City is deploying more than 50 police officers to direct traffic through the city.
