Season Two of 'Serial' Debuts

WNYC News | Dec 10, 2015

The podcast 'Serial' debuted its second season Thursday.

The new program will explore the case of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive in Afghanistan for nearly five years. He was later rescued. While Bergdahl's return home was initially celebrated, the narrative changed when his fellow soldiers accused him of desertion and labeled him a traitor. He has since been charged with two crimes.

The first season of 'Serial' told the story of the 1999 murder of 17-year-old Hae Min Lee in Baltimore County. Her boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was convicted of her murder and sentenced to life in prison. But in November, Syed was granted a new hearing in court.

'Serial' is produced by the makers of This American Life.
