Searching The Arctic For Two Lost Ships

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 24, 2017

Pulitzer-winning journalist and photographer Paul Watson joins us to discuss his book Ice Ghosts: The Epic Hunt for the Lost Franklin Expedition. The book tells the story of the doomed Franklin Expedition of 1845, where two ships and 129 people disappeared into the Arctic. Watson also documents the searches that led to the discovery of the ships' remains almost 170 years later.

Paul Watson will appear at The Explorers Club (46 East 70th St.) on March 27. There will be a reception at 6 p.m., and a lecture at 7 p.m.
