Science journalist Lee Daniel Kravetz joins us to discuss his book Strange Contagion: Inside the Surprising Science of Infectious Behaviors and Viral Emotions and What They Tell Us About Ourselves. He explores the concept of social contagion, or the theory that ideas, emotions and actions are communicable -- from mirroring someone’s posture to mimicking their speech patterns. He looks at how we are all driven by unconscious motivations triggered by our environment and what happens when they converge under the right circumstances.
