Legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed died Sunday at the age of 71.

As founder of the Velvet Underground, Reed is known as one of rock history's great pioneers. Neil Portnow, president the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which bestows the Grammys, credited Reed with "introducing avant-garde rock to the mainstream."

Reed was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Today Moe Tucker, drummer for the Velvet Underground, helps us remember Lou Reed.
