Robert K. Brown, Soldier of Fortune

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

Robert K. Brown, former Green Beret, who was kicked out of Special Forces twice, talks about finding his true calling as a publisher. He launched an upstart magazine called Soldier of Fortune, which pushed the bounds of journalism to its limits. His book I Am a Soldier of Fortune: Dancing with Devils tells his own story, taking the readers into combat zones with him and his daring combat journalists.

A not often talked about fact that Brown was kicked out of the green berets in Vietnam for insubordination.
Kind of discredits this notion that he's some kind "soldier", except the one he sells.

Amazing interview Leonard, I really like that you can ask someone tough questions about controversial subjects with out being a jerk.... Tough but respectful.... Your the best! ... Col. Brown is a controversial figure but at least he is honest and stands up for what he believes

Vietnam vets still don't get the respect they deserve and that is a crying shame.... Thank you Col. Brown for you work and your efforts to help oppressed people like the Karens in Burma!

I wonder if Lt. Col. Brown has ever considered that his distinction btwn. supporting an action & supporting *how* it was done could apply to the US supporting & arming the most radical elements of the opposition to Soviet occupation of Afghanistan & leaving as soon as the Soviets pulled out.

What is the guest opinion on the 'Bay of pigs' or 'Iran Contra.'

I want to know if SOF can ever be liberals, or you have to be a hawk..
