Revisiting NYC's '60s Pop Music Scene

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 21, 2017

George Colabella and Charles Penzabene aka "JR" join us to discuss the book, Taking It From The Top... One More Time. Written by Colabella, the book tells JR's story as a founding member of The Jay Tones. The Italian American pop trio rose to fame during the late 50s and early 60s with their song “My Only Love.” Through JR’s story, Colabella shows what it’s like to be a young musician trying to stand out in the 1960s NYC pop music scene.
