The Takeaway is traveling back in time with our friends at the Retro Report documentary team. Today's report takes to 1988, when beloved rubber tapper and union activist Francisco "Chico" Mendes was assassinated.

Geoffrey O'Connor, show-runner for Insurgent Media and a producer for CNN and Retro Report, reflects on the indigenous and western activists in the rain forest movement, the mistakes they made, and where they are now.
