This week, our partners at the Retro Report documentary team explore how the 1985 'Live Aid' global concerts designed to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine led to other successful social activism campaigns, including the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and the Kony 2012 video, which highlighted the war ravages of Ugandan cult and militia leader Joseph Kony.

Now, social media activism has also been seen after the election, and the American Civil Liberties Union saw a surge in donations after Donald Trump won the presidency.

Bonnie Bertram, a Retro Report producer, weighs in.
