Reports: Building Shaking in SoHo

WNYC News | Sep 19, 2013

A six-story apartment building in SoHo has been evacuated after officials say they received reports that it was shaking.

Fire officials said they evacuated the building at 188 Sixth Avenue between Spring and Vandam streets after arriving on scene and seeing the building "shift." The Department of Buildings has also been called to assess the situation. A search of the agency's Web site shows three previous complaints about the building shaking between August 2008 and May 2013.

The address is adjacent to a construction site.

The area has been taped off, but traffic is moving slowly through the area. A, C and E trains are running with delays between Spring Street and West 4th Street.
