Love the creativity of your host! As far as the antiquated music industry model, I love www.noisetrade.com. All music is free with the option of leaving a tip if you want to. I tend to pay more for music there than Amazon or iTunes, get to sample full songs before downloading, and more willing to purchase new music by an artist I like.

Noisetrade and kickstarter shows create minds can help artists finance new work without resorting to "big business."

Alexis completely side stepped the question regarding how the internet has affected creatives livelihoods. Jaron Lanier's numbers are documented. And ironically, Lanier goes on to talk about how most of what is sold today to creatives regarding making a decent living is the idea of hope, exactly the word Alexis used.

As we've learned from Pet's.com et al., web biz is often more hype then actual content.

A "successful" web biz often requires an exceptional huxster, doesn't it Alexis?

Alexis... says hes afraid of the government as threat to business...

I find it a bit ironic coming from a person who built his business on the internet (invented by the government) aggregating news protected by the right of a free press...

i think he benefited more from the government then he thinks...

There are also always "two sides to every coin", though almost anything popular people find it "unpopular" to look at the other side. In this case Alexis mentioned there's never been a time when individuals can create so much wealth in a business, with web start-ups, with so little effort.

Another side of that is that is there also never having been a time when individuals could globally monopolize a good idea, so very rapidly and effectively. So, the "power of the position" is apparently a "combination", not so much the vast wealth "creation", but is apparently more the "concentration".

Reddit is great, it's got something for everybody. That being said, I've found that most of it's users are young and male, and in that respect, it's kind of one dimensional. Reading through the comments, and that's what Reddit is all about, can get old really fast.
