
Recipe: Robert Depczenski's Cream Cheese Holiday Cookies
Pastry Dough: At room temperature
1/2 lb sweet butter
1/2 lb cream cheese
2 cups flour
Filling:
8 oz dried Turkish apricots
1 cup water
Egg Wash (egg and water) & Topping mixture:
8 oz ground walnuts
1 Tbs sugar
Dusting: powdered sugar

1. Mix cream cheese and butter in Cuisinart with steel blade. Add flour and combine.
2. Chill well for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight.
3. Cut apricots, add water and cook until soft.
Puree mixture in Cuisinart.
5. Roll cold dough into 1/8" thickness on a lightly floured surface and cut into 2 1/2" squares.
6. Place 1 tsp of filling onto each square and fold the dough into a triangular shape. Press the edges together. While preparing, keep the cookies cold and refrigerated on wax paper. It's important to keep the dough cold.
7. Paint each with egg wash (1 egg & 1 tbs water mixed well) and dip into the mixture of walnuts and sugar.
8. Place on an untreated baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
9. When cool, dust with powdered sugar.
