Since taking the helm as Music Director in 2009, the NY Phil's Alan Gilbert has been doing an annual series of new works called Contact!  To its credit, so far the series has presented over ten world premiere-New York Philharmonic commissions.

For this New Sounds program, we'll dip into some of these very recent Contact! Archives, performed by the New York Philharmonic, including a work by Nico Muhly, "Detailed Instructions."  Also, we'll hear a work by Gerard Grisey, one of the titans of serial music, who also makes use of microtones.  Plus, music by Angelica Negron, Rubin Kodheli, and a piano piece by Frederic Rzewski.
