A Family Can't Escape the Dust in 1930s Oklahoma

A family of nine Depression refugees from Iowa, New Mexico, August, 1936. They have no money or work and are about to sell their auto and trailer for food.

Author Rae Meadows based her latest novel I Will Send Rainon the Dust Bowl photographs of Dorothea Lange. Set in the Oklahoma panhandle during the Great Depression, the Bell family must find their own way to cope with destroyed crops, disappearing neighbors, frayed family ties and the ever-looming dust storms, even when it comes at a cost to their relationships with each other.
