This really sounds like "Shadow of a Doubt", a Hitchcock movie from 1943 with Joseph Cotten and Teresa Wright. Did Hitch base it on this case?

Dell Computers was the subject of the "Fool the Listener" game on the recent "Wait,Wait,Don't Tell Me" episode.

Any relationship to the book?

Are any of the widows named Adele? Did he kill her?
