The Posthumous Fame of Chantal Akerman

Chantal Akerman was one of the most prolific and perplexing filmmakers of her generation. From 1968 to her death by suicide in 2015, the Belgian auteur made more than 40 films, including her masterpiece Jeanne Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels. Though Akerman is a major figure in avant-garde cinema, she has stayed reluctantly at the margins. Bob talks to the Vice-President of Icarus Films, Livia Bloom, who has organized the Akerman tribute, about the mechanisms of posthumous fame.
