For Pierre Boulez, It's All About the Space
WNYC News | Oct 5, 2017
This week, one of the most unusual works by the late French composer and conductor Pierre Boulez is getting a rare, live performance at the Park Avenue Armory.Â
"Répons," which will be conducted by Matthias Pintscher, is all about filling an enormous volume of space with sound.
"This piece is about resonance, and responses, and it’s a huge antiphony," said Pintscher, "and you need to see the space, you need to feel the space, you need to feel and perceive how the sound is traveling, and I think this is going to be the ideal circumstances for that work."
"Répons" is playing at the Park Avenue Armory October 6-7, 2017.
