Venezuela Crisis Complicates Pence's Latin American Tour

With turmoil at home, Vice President Mike Pence in the middle of a six day-long trip to Latin America.
His visit is officially about trade and the economy, but Pence has found himself explaining President Trump’s off the cuff remarks that he wouldn’t rule out a “military option” to bring an end to the chaos in Venezuela.
Earlier this week, Pence stood by as Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos said no Latin American country would accept a U.S. military intervention in Venezuela at a joint press conference.
Pence tried to smooth things over, saying the president remains confident the U.S. and its allies will achieve a "peaceable solution," but he’s walking a thin line on this diplomatic mission, which also includes visits to Argentina, Chile, and Panama.
Eric Farnsworth, the vice president of the Council of the Americas and Americas Society, says Trump's comments have become an unwanted distraction.
