#3555: New Music for Clarinets
Can’t get enough clarinet? This New Sounds is for you. Hear music from David Krakauer from his latest cinematic venture, “The Big Picture,” arrangements and interprtations of familiar movie soundtracks by classic film composers. Also, listen to music by multi-instrumentalist Doug Wieselman, (Antony and the Johnsons, Lounge Lizards, Cibo Matto) for solo clarinet and looping based on melodies heard from bodies of water.
Plus, hear works from left-coast based Beth Custer, composer/multi-instrumentalist Don Byron, and the late New Orleans innovator Alvin Batiste. Rounding out the show is music by leader of Gamelan Galak Tika, the composer and Bang on a Can All-stars co-founder, clarinetist Evan Ziporyn.
