Thursday, September 19, 2013

Comedians Negin Farsad and Dean Obeidallah discuss their documentary “The Muslims Are Coming!” Farsad and Obeidallah lead a group of Muslim-American standup comedians as they go on the road to counter Islamophobia using the only weapon they have: jokes. The film follows them to big cities, rural villages, and everything in between to do shows, meet locals, and counter the haters. “The Muslims Are Coming! opens September 20 at the Quad Cinema.

really Marrach, only White people look at you funny, take a walk by 181st street at night, its not all skittles and snapple. by the way remember 911, I sure do. Who flew the planes and killed thousands?

Why do they need special attention, just try to blend in, get jobs, stay off welfare and away from bomb making schools.

Cool conversation...but I will give them a heartfelt "THANK YOU" for admitting to an unspoken secret:

...When Dean spoke about how until 9/11 he considered himself 'White' and was untouched by anything, but afterward, he began to listen to the news as a ears burned.

The rest of us who can't 'HIDE' our difference, invariably run into the White Majority's nonplussed "Why are you so UPSET? Why can't you Just be an American, instead of a Hyphen?"

These guys just provided a classic example...We AREN'T ALLOWED to be Just 'AMERICANS'. White People see my skin and an automatic categorical downgrade happens no matter WHAT they say to my face.

But now comes the irony of Arab/Palestinians/ being stripped of what I call 'Optional Whiteness' by current events.

It was interesting to hear...

I think the main premise promoted by guests is that all fear of Muslims is unreasonable and irrational.

You can laugh all you want, but it is total bs.

The only real joke here is religion itself. When will all get past this idea that somehow a magic entity showed itself to our world a few thousand years ago and told people to write books? What other information from thousands of years ago has held even close to true? We used to think that the Earth was the center of the universe, and was flat.

Please help spread the good word, that the only truth is science. And even that is just the truth of the day. Too many wars based on religion. Cut out all the voodoo and we'll all be better off.
