The MTA's New Magic Button

Last fall, Ben Wellington wrote a much-viewed blog post with a handy trick for NOT leaving odd amounts on your MetroCards, but still getting the discount.  The MTA took note and added a new button to the machines that helps riders calculate that amount.  He takes a bow. Plus: for anyone looking for a breakdown of the fare changes, here it is, straight from the MTA (the reduced fare -- which a lot of people called to ask about -- is now $1.35).
