A Year After Police Killed Her Son, A Mother Vows to March Forward

On December 2, 2015, 26-year-old Mario Woods was shot 21 times and killed by the San Francisco Police Department. His mother, Gwen Woods, recognized him in a video of the incident posted to social media.
In the year after her son's death, Gwen struggled with the media and her grief as she served as Mario's voice. She also spent time with the mothers of Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
Gwen joins us along with journalist Jaeah Lee, who chronicled Gwen's story in a piece for California Sunday, “After the Shooting: A year in the life of Gwen Woods.”
