March Meowness: And We Have a Winner

Bodega cats are hipper than shuffleboard and unlike Cronuts, they'll never go out of style. We asked you to vote for your favorite and you came through in droves. After 90,000 swipes, we have a winner.

Classical viola player Nadia Sirota took this iconic shot of Murray*, a Bed-Stuy tabby "who guards the fruit." Murray barely edged out these handsome second and third-place cats, and for her efforts, Nadia gets a 2014 Bodega Cat Calendar (courtesy of these guys). Full disclosure: Nadia guest hosts over at Q2, a NYPR station.

In case you aren't ready to say goodbye to this year's crop of talent, take a look at the whole field of candidates one sweet last time.

@Wendy - that's an incredibly generous offer! We'll reach out to you and the owners and see what we can do!

I love this but I hope you know not to give the real name and address of these bodegas otherwise the owners will get a fine and the cat will end up at the ASPCA.

Ummmm...isn't anyone else grossed out by these animals crawling all over their food? Slobbering, scratching, losing hair--ick. How is this even legal?
