Meet 2017 NYC Mayoral Candidate Tony Avella

The Brian Lehrer Show | Dec 20, 2016

Tony Avella, Democratic New York State Senator, joins us to discuss his 2017 mayoral bid and the issues that distinguish him from the incumbent Mayor Bill de Blasio. Senator Avella announced his campaign at a hotel in Maspeth, Queens, that is used to house the homeless. The community had protested sheltering the homeless in the hotel, and Senator Avella argues that communities should have greater say in what happens in their neighborhoods.

He previously ran for mayor in 2009 and has been a State Senator of the 11th district since 2010.
