this is so silly.... mayors need to get around,it's not proportional "apples to apples". i'm not putting him on on pedestal, but it does seem like this scrutiny is both petty and asinine.

Blasio safely elected is in cruise control mode. His motorcade driving recklessly fits in with his intimidating the police to release an arrested friend. I guess when Blasio talked about " 2 cities" in the campaign , what he meant is "I want my share" of the special favors available out there.
Blasio, I understand your racing around the city, Cuomo has trumped your pre k plan and you are left scrambling and babbling about more taxes. Anyone up for changing the mayoral term to 1 years ASAP.

Many regular cop cars and even ambulances, I suspect - put their sirens on in non-emergency reasons.

Cop cars have turned Tompkins Square Park into a mud mess. They should NOT be in this small one block by three block park. The cars racing around in the park pose a danger to children and everyone. Cops should go back to walking the beat in the park as they did for more than a hundred years.

The Mayor's "two cities" seems to be one for him and his sycophants and one for the rest of us:

That being said. I have no problem with the mayor's detail shirting certain traffic laws, even speeding (for security etc.)- AS LONG AS THEY HAVE SIRENS ON.

They could've at least had their flashers on and/or sirens.

The kerfuffle over the driving tactics of the mayor's escort detail is a grand example of NYC media in full "circus clowns" mode.

With all the important issues to be covered in this town, the topic of most importance to this town's media is whether mayor's police detail modified their escort tactics to meet his traffic safety initiative.

I am sure DiBlasio is not the first mayor to be driven in the manner shown. And I hope he is not the last. There is likely solid security reason for doing so when transporting high valued persons such as mayors, governors, presidents.

Time to move on.
