Recalling The Life Of Trumpeter Lee Morgan

The Leonard Lopate Show | Mar 23, 2017

Director Kasper Collin joins us to discuss his new documentary, “I Called Him Morgan.” It looks at the life and death of jazz trumpet player Lee Morgan. Collin will be joined by bassists Larry Ridley and Paul West. The documentary recounts Morgan’s career playing with jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey and John Coltrane. Director Kasper Collin, jazz historian Gary Giddins, and musicians Larry Ridley and Paul West will appear for a Q&A on March 24 after the 6 p.m. show at the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

Director Kasper Collin will also appear at the Film Society of Lincoln Center on March 25 for a Q&A after the 6 p.m. show.
