Read Imbolo Mbue's 'Behold the Dreamers' With Us!

The Leonard Lopate Show | Aug 7, 2017

For our latest Leonard Lopate Show Book Club, author Imbolo Mbue joins us to discuss her debut novel,  Behold the Dreamers. The novel follows Jende Jonga and his wife Neni who emigrate from Cameroon to New York City to create a better life for their family. Jende is thrilled about his job chauffeuring a senior executive at Lehman Brothers until their lives begin to unravel as the stock market crashes in 2008. The novel tells a nuanced and complicated story both of immigrant families trying to secure a future in America, and what happens when the people who seemingly have everything are on the brink of losing it.

Imbolo Mbue will appear at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Eastchester (Vernon Hills Shopping Center, 680 White Plains Post Road, Scarsdale) on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.

Jonathan Capehart guest hosted this segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show."
