Writer L. Ron Hubbard holds the Guinness World Record for most published works by a single author -- 1,084. He founded the Dianetics self-help movement. He developed and led the Church of Scientology. This makes for a pretty impressive resume. But did you know that L. Ron Hubbard was also a musician? There are at least four distinct records with music that can be either credited to him directly or attributed to his inspiration.

In a conversation with Soundcheck host John Schaefer, Nathan Rabin talks about his recent piece for Slate, "L. Rock Hubbard: Revisiting The Curious Career Of The Ultimate Cult Musician," which delves into Hubbard's musical contributions, his collaborations with keyboardist Chick Corea, actor John Travolta, blues guitarist Edgar Winter, and more.
