Kick Off the Summer with Free Outdoor Music

WNYC News | Jun 21, 2016

New Yorkers (and tourists alike) can celebrate the start of summer with free music all day Tuesday.

Hundreds of free concerts are being held in outdoor spaces across the city as part of the 10th annual "Make Music New York" festival's summer solstice celebration. From hip hop, to punk to classical music, musicians are giving free performances outdoors from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

You can catch a free performance of composer Philip Glass at "pier i," right by the river on the Upper West Side, or walk though Harlem listening to funk and jazz the whole afternoon.

Check out all the performances, map included, here.
