Jonathan's Favorite Trumpet Players

Monday, April 21, 2014

Every week during jazz appreciation month, Jonathan Schwartz will share his favorite musicians from a jazz quartet — think Stan Getz and Bill Evans. This week we feature trumpet players.

Here are a few of Jonathan’s favorite trumpet players, in no particular order except for #1.

Jonathan's Trumpet Playlist:

#1. Louis Armstrong - Bugle Call Rag/Ole Miss from New Orleans Nights

#2. Miles Davis - 'Round Midnight

#3. Harry "Sweets" Edison - Willow Weep For Me

#4. Clifford Brown - Parisian Thoroughfare

#5. Clark Terry - Stardust

#6. Bix Beiderbecke - Goose Pimples

#7. Marcus Parsley - Angel Eyes

Jonathan, speaking of trumpet players, have you heard of Bria Skonberg? She lives in Brooklyn and is incredibly multi talented. Worth checking her out. My wife was a professional trumpet player, but unfortunately I lost her in 2010. I ran into Bria at The Players Club in NYC in 2011. I wish my wife had a chance to have met her.

Maybe you can do a show/piece of young trumpet players!

Best love the show every Sunday

Jonathan's is a good list. I would also have include Jack Sheldon.
