John Zorn Presents Masada: Angels, Inspiration, and Improvisation

Prolific avant-garde composer John Zorn visits the WNYC Studio to present some of his Masada series of compositions along with pianist Uri Caine, guitarist Jon Madof, and saxophonist Uri Gurvich. David Garland talks with Zorn and the musicians about the unique aspects of this group of 613 pieces, which are specially designed to inspire their interpreters, cultivating new growth from Klezmer roots. From September 2nd through 7th, Zorn and many others will perform selections from Zorn's Book of Angels series (Masada Books Two and Three) at the legendary New York jazz venue The Village Vanguard.
