Tuesday, December 03, 2013

Reuters columnist David Rohde discusses John Kerry as Secretary of State. Rodhe’s article “John Kerry Will Not Be Denied” shows that while Kerry’s critics call him arrogant, undisciplined, and reckless,  his relentlessness in pursuit of negotiations might produce some of the most important diplomatic breakthroughs in years.

Regarding politicians being Secretaries of State, here's a few names that your guest might be familiar with: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay, Martin Van Buran, etc.

The only way there will be a peace deal is when the name of Jordan is changed back to Palestine, and that country becomes the Palestinian state. There will not be another Arab state west of the Jordan river, and that is the true reality. Some confederation between what is now called Jordan and Area A and B in the West Bank, with Area C annexed to Israel. That is the only possible deal.

The Obama administration early on recognized that the Middle East and Central Asia my not be America’s front line foreign policy priority. That the Eastern Pacific and China’s military, and political provocative stand needs American attention. Hence the need to shut down the Iran nuclear issue and vacating of Afghanistan. Coupled with increase in Pentagon’s spending on the Navy.

Why does the guest Blame Obama/Kerry for the lack of a Israel/Palestine deal? Whatever happens with Iran the Netanyahu government absolutely refuses to withdraw from the Jordan Valley so there can be no peace deal. End of story.

I think Kerry is vying for 2016 against Hillary. I don't think he's given up his presidental aspirations and breakthroughs in all of these ME matters could be his ticket.
