Listen to a tour of the eastern part of the Mediterranean on this New Sounds.  We'll journey through a thousand years of the music that resounded along the mighty Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey (not Constantinople) from the 14th/15th Century Greek chant to Crusader songs, Sufi Ceremonial music, Turkish folk music, Sephardic Jwish songs, and more.

It’s all from an impressive collection of music, A Story of the City...Constantinople, Istanbul featuring Boston-based musicians’ collective DÜNYA, with Schola Cantorum and Ensemble Trinitas.  Plus, we’ll hear from the like-minded record from Jordi Savall, “Jerusalem,” another important citiy that has experienced huge musical and cultural changes over the centuries.
