How one math teacher is teaching redistricting in New York

Last week, New York’s top court threw out the state’s new Congressional district lines, saying Democrats drew them in their favor. The ruling will probably delay federal primaries and could have major ramifications on the balance of power in the House of Representatives.

Math teacher Kate Belin has been incorporating lessons about gerrymandering to 11th and 12th grade students. Belin spoke to WNYC's Morning Edition host Michael Hill.
