Hanggai at Lincoln Center

July 25 | 7:00 PM | FREE

The band Hanggai is based in Beijing, but they don’t play Chinese music – they specialize in combining traditional Mongolian music with Western rock. Many of their songs are arrangements of old Mongolian folk songs, using the so-called throat singing techniques that allow a single performer to sing two or even three notes at once. Hanggai also uses traditional Mongolian fiddles and lutes, placing them alongside drums and guitars. They play a free show on Saturday, July 25, at the Dance Floor at Lincoln Center.
